Helping school leaders, teachers, support staff and governors understand Special Educational Needs and Disabilty, e.g.:

Making the curriculum:

- Accessible to all, so that everyone experiences success from their starting points.
Twilight guided learning sessions for school staff, senior leaders, governors and parent groups, including:
- What challenges do we face?
- Reflective practice
- Effective meetings
- Every employee a leader of SEND
- Balancing challenge and support
- Working in partnership
- The importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Why some sanctions for students with SEND may be illegal.
Reviewing, revising and developing policies, routines and everyday practice, asking questions like:
- Why do we do it this way?
- What does research tell us?
- How can we make sure staff read, understand and implement the policy?
- How can we put the joy back into learning?
- If it works for those with SEND, will it work for everybody?
Reducing detentions, suspensions and exclusions.
- Pupils at SEN support are over 4 times more likely to be suspended and 8 times more likely to be excluded
- Pupils with an EHCP are almost 4 times more likely to be suspended/ excluded than those without an EHCP
- Black and dual-heritage girls are twice as likely to be excluded.
It doesn't have to be like this. I will help you find a better way.
